Amaranthe's last work was released in 2016

Swedish band Amaranthe are in the studio to begin recording their fifth album.

The recording will take place in Denmark, with producer Jacob Hansen, who has previously worked with Volbeat, Epica, and Delain. The successor to Maximalism will be the first with Nils Molin, from Dynazty, as one of the vocalists following the departure of Jake E.

Jake E announced his departure from Amaranthe in February 2017, and formed the band Cyhra, with former In Flames members Peter Iwers (bass) and Jesper Strömblad (guitar), and Luca Turilli drummer Alex Landernburg.

Vocalist Elize Ryd said in a 2016 interview with CrypticRock that the recording process for Maximalism was “a little different from previous ones because we actually had time to sit down and think a lot about how we could make some changes to the sound without changing too much, of course. We were playing a lot with new keyboards and working on a list of things we like but hadn’t used on previous albums. This was an opportunity to get something a little more diverse. I think that’s exactly what this album represents. We wanted to maximize our sound and ourselves as human beings. It’s also a little more organic.”
