Besides Trillium, Amanda has also lent her voice to works by Avantasia, Epica, After Forever, and Kamelot.

Trillium is the name of a project by singer Amanda Somerville. The new album, Tectonic , will be released on June 8th via Frontiers Music Srl.

Sander Gommans, former member of After Forever, played guitar on most of the songs: “Composing, producing and mixing an album with Amanda was an intense experience (three children were born during that period), but very rewarding. Having André Borgman (former drummer of After Forever) was a great bonus for me.”

Amanda spoke about the album: “My life has been shaken by figurative earthquakes, through various elements, changing over the last few years, and that’s what this album represents. It’s a challenge to make an album that is musically heavy without being dragged down by melancholy, but that’s what Sander and I set out to do from the beginning, and it worked beautifully!”

Amanda continued: “The core and essence of Tectonic are very personal and basically come from the hearts and minds of a singer and guitarist, and I think that’s very apparent when you listen to the songs. Sander and I didn’t want to overthink and complicate the songs. There’s definitely something bombastic, because we both like keyboard arrangements, but they don’t dominate things here.”
