Are you familiar with the project The Puro ? The duo formed by Noel Hogan (co-founder, guitarist and songwriter of The Cranberries ) and Brazilian singer Mell Peck is a great recommendation for fans of alternative and indie rock.
The story of how this duo formed is a fairy tale from the internet age. Noel was recommended to check out Mell Peck's cover channel on YouTube and found a voice he wanted to work with, starting their partnership remotely, as the world was facing a pandemic and they were geographically far apart.
As Mell recounted in a new interview with Wikimetal , despite the unusual way everything happened, the artistic connection between them was instantaneous, making the whole process "simple" and allowing for the free exchange of ideas. When Mell showed Noel some compositions in English, he loved the idea, and the EP Law of Return became a project with versions of all the songs in both languages.
Noel liked the power of the Brazilian singer's voice and thought she would be perfect for the tracks he was already writing. In the guitarist and composer's words, The Puro has a sound guided by voice and guitar in a melodic way, which transitions between delicacy and more intense moments.
The EP Law of Return is a release from the ForMusic Records label. Listen on your favorite streaming platform .
