Alter Bridge officially marked the beginning of a new era – and the band's new album – this Monday, the 18th, with the release of the title track "Pawns & Kings" and the unveiling of the new project's cover art.
At six minutes long, the new track is heavy and dark, with a message of resistance to continue the battle, almost like a melodic and somber war cry. “And even though we are just pawns / But we could be kings / If we believe / Against all odds,” says the chorus.
In a recent interview with the program My Planet Rocks (via Guitar World ), Mark Tremonti revealed that Myles Kennedy was responsible for creating some of the heaviest riffs on the new album. “There are some really heavy riffs [on the album],” he said. “It’s funny that even the producers can’t tell who created what, because when the band started, I was the heavy guy, Myles was the more sentimental guy. And now you don’t even know [the difference] anymore.”
Alter Bridge's new album will be released on October 14, 2022, with the band touring Europe in November and December alongside Halestorm and Mammoth WVH . Pre-order it here .
