Last Tuesday, January 4th, Alter Bridge celebrated its 18th anniversary. The band commemorated the occasion on social media and confirmed the release of a new album sometime in 2022.

The band was formed in 2003 when three members of Creed decided to pursue a different musical direction and put together a project with a new vocalist. Myles Kennedy had been without a band since the previous year, after the end of The Mayfield Four , and traveled to Florida at the invitation of Mark Tremonti .

One Day Remains (2004), the new band's first studio album, arrived just over a year after the founding of Alter Bridge and was a sales success, as were subsequent releases.

"It feels like it was yesterday, and it's been an incredible journey that's nowhere near over. And thank you to our amazing fans because without you we wouldn't exist. Get ready for a new album later this year," the band wrote on social media.

Since then, the band has remained unchanged in its lineup and is preparing for the release of its seventh album in 2022. According to the timeline shared by Tremonti , recordings for the new project have not yet begun, but should take place between April and May , leaving the release still in the first half of the year, while the subsequent tour is scheduled for the end of the second half of this year, during the North American winter, which begins in December.
