In an interview with Metal Hammer Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz commented on the lazy comparisons the media makes and revealed that she has even been compared to Avril Lavigne .
During the conversation, White-Gluz was asked if she found it bothersome to see bands like Jinger and Spiritbox being compared to Arch Enemy simply because the three vocalists are women. Alissa replied that she had never heard the comparison, but that it's nothing new in the industry (via Loudersound ).
“For over 20 years I’ve been compared to other bands that have female vocalists,” she comments. “I think the first comparison was with Garbage and then with Evanescence . And after that, Avril Lavigne.”
“This has always happened,” she continues. “It’s something people do, and I don’t think I can blame them. I mean, we’re all women. I know both of these bands and I love them both very much, so I’m happy [with the comparison], but I don’t think musically our bands sound alike. And I also don’t think they [Jinjer and Spiritbox] sound alike.”
