Alírio Netto commented on the end of Shaman in a statement released on his social media. The band announced that it had ceased operations on the evening of Tuesday the 10th.

The band's end was announced by guitarist Hugo Mariutti minutes after bassist and band founder Luis Mariutti Ricardo Confessori 's political stances as the motivation for the announced decisions.

On Monday, the 9th, a day after the invasion of the National Congress, the Planalto Palace, and the headquarters of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Confessori shared criticisms of the current president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). In the comments of the post, he even argued with fans, insulting a person who disagreed with his opinion. This person, an experienced veterinarian, was called "stupid" and a "biologist who failed medical school" and received other hateful comments from the musician.

Alírio then released a statement commenting on the band's end: “Being in this band was one of the greatest honors I've had in my life. Unfortunately, due to yesterday's events, it's clear that there's no longer an atmosphere to continue. I repudiate any homophobic, racist, sexist comments, hate speech, and anything lacking any empathy!”

"I would like to thank my bandmates for their trust and for this incredible journey! I would also like to thank our true fans who have always given us their support!"

He concludes: "And above all, I would like to thank our dear Andre Matos for teaching me so much through his music."

Shaman was formed in 2000 by former Angra Andre Matos, Luis Mariutti, and Ricardo Confessori. Shortly after, guitarist Hugo Mariutti joined the group, completing the lineup that lasted until 2006.

The band returned in 2018 for a tour with its original lineup, which was interrupted on June 8, 2019, due to the death of Andre Matos , but was soon resumed with Alírio Netto replacing him.
