Rainier Fog is a tribute to Seattle, the city of Alice In Chains and other bands
Alice In Chains has released the official lyric video for the title track from their latest album, Rainier Fog .
Guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell said the track is a tribute to the Seattle music scene. The city launched bands like his and Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam , and others. He explained: “This song is a small tribute to all of that. Where we came from, who we are, all our triumphs, all the tragedies, lives lived.”
Cantrell also spoke about the deaths of Seattle musicians like Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley , and Chris Cornell . “It’s a small town, we all knew each other… It’s really hard being the guy who has to talk about dead friends all the time,” he added. “After 15 years of talking about friends dying, you just want to focus on life and moving on. That’s all I can control. I miss them all terribly.”
Rainier Fog is named after Mount Rainier in Seattle. It's the first album recorded in the city in 20 years.
Cantrell recorded the demo for the song with the help of Seattle native Duff McKagan . "He loved that riff," Cantrell said of the Guns N' Roses .
