He also revealed that he wrote a song with Manson
Alice Cooper is famous for combining horror, comedy, and rock in his performances. From his makeup to his stage design, the musician always surprises fans with the most insane representations of terror.
But he admits that this is just an image and doesn't define his personality. During an interview with Loudwire, Cooper revealed that among the various colleagues who also appropriate horror for their performances, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson are his favorites.
“Rob Zombie understands that horror and comedy go hand in hand… And then you add Rock and Roll and you have the complete package. Marilyn Manson is also very good at it. Actually, it’s not Manson himself, but his videos that are extremely disturbing… Very stylish, he has a very good sense of style. And I don’t want to spoil his image, but he’s a very cool guy.”
Cooper also recounted the day he and Manson met. It was during a festival where they were both part of the lineup: “We talked about marriage! He had just divorced Dita Von Teese and I've been married for 35 years, and we talked about marriage! And he told me, 'Everyone thinks the marriage was a facade, but it wasn't, I really didn't want to get divorced.'"
The musician goes on to say that he and Manson are good colleagues and, despite working well together and having good conversations, they couldn't be more different on theological issues: "I am a practicing Christian and he is a 'priest' of the Satanic church."
Alice Cooper even revealed that his close friendship with Marilyn Manson resulted in a song they wrote together: "It should be on the next Hollywood Vampire album."
