Johnny Depp is Cooper's partner in the band Hollywood Vampires
Alice Cooper defended his Hollywood Vampires , Johnny Depp .
He says there is a misrepresentation of the actor by the media, including substance abuse and financial problems.
“I’m on tour with him and I’ve never seen him so well in my life. I’ve never heard him play so well; he laughs and smiles all the time. It’s the complete opposite of what I’ve read about him,” he continued.
Cooper, who celebrated the 50th anniversary of his debut album Pretties For You , revealed that Depp wrote many of the lyrics for the new album. “I’ll tell you, the new Vampires album is going to be very interesting. It was written on the road. A lot of it was written by Johnny, and there’s a lot of venom in the lyrics. Because of all the shit he went through.”
He continued: “Being in a band is, I think, more expressive for him than making a film. When you're in rock and roll, you can bring your life, people, and problems right onto the stage. You can bring your anger onto the stage. It's hard rock, but there are things you don't expect.”
Hollywood Vampires is a supergroup formed by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry of Aerosmith . They released a self-titled album in 2015. Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl , and Slash made guest appearances on the record.
