The results will be released in December of this year

The Songwriters Hall of Fame was created to recognize and celebrate the greatest composers and lyricists in the world of music, and this year Alice Cooper was nominated to receive the honor.

Alice Cooper joins nominees Mariah Carey, Tom Waits, Chrissie Hynde, The Isley Brothers, and John Mellencamp. Members of the association will vote and announce the results on December 17th, with three winners in the non-performing category and three in the performing category.

The composers will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on July 14, 2018, at an association event in New York.

Alice Cooper is considered a pioneer of Heavy Metal music and has written great lyrics that are now considered anthems, such as "I'm Eighteen" and "School's Out". His collaborations range from Joe Perry of Aerosmith to Andy McCoy of Hanoi Rocks. In 2011, the musician was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
