Alice Cooper and his wife, Sheryl Goddard , became public advocates for COVID-19 vaccination after contracting the virus and battling the symptoms of the disease.

The couple was infected in December 2020. Although the condition did not require hospitalization, meaning it was not considered serious, the singer shared details of the difficult recovery with AZ Central . “[The disease] annihilated us,” he began (via Ultimate Classic Rock ). “I lost 7 kilos. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat.”

According to Cooper , the improvement is gradual. “Every day you feel 2% better. Then you get a little better, the next day a little better, until finally, you think, ‘Oh, wait a minute, I feel almost normal now,’” he explained. “But it really knocks you down. I mean, it’s like pneumonia. It takes a while to get back on track without feeling bad.”

Both have recovered, and Cooper said his health is “at least 95%” of what it was before contracting the coronavirus . Fortunately, the couple was vaccinated in February and now encourage others to do the same.
