Last Tuesday, the 23rd, Alice Cooper announced the expanded reissue of Billion Dollar Babies , in celebration of the album's 50th anniversary. The release will take place on March 8th and the new version can be purchased on the official merchandising website, the Alice Cooper Shop .
Dubbed the 'Trillion Dollar' edition by Cooper, the album will be available on 2 CDs and 3 LPs, featuring a remastered version of the original album. In addition, there will be bonus material, including mixes of singles such as “Hello Hurray”, “Billion Dollar Babies”, “Elected” and “Mary Ann”, and studio outtakes of “Cool Black Model T”, “Son of Billion Dollar Babies (Generation Landslide)” and “Slick Black Limousine”.
The reissue will also include a live recording of a show in Texas in 1973, which took place shortly after the album's release.
According to the website Consequence Heavy , the liner notes of the reissue contain reflections from the vocalist himself on the songwriting process for the songs that would become some of the greatest classics of his career.
“We were writing those songs looking at each other, and every time we wrote a line I’d say, ‘Oh, this is going to kill them. Oh, they’re going to hate us for this’ […] But at the same time, it was almost like an Edgar Allan Poe when you listened to ‘I Love the Dead.’ I tried to write it the way Vincent Price would sing it,” says an excerpt released to the press.
