Alice Cooper 's twenty-first album is on its way! Detroit Stories marks the legend's first new album since Paranormal .
As the project title suggests, Cooper, born and raised in Detroit, will return to his roots and explore the sounds and veteran names that helped popularize American hard rock.
“Los Angeles has its own sound with The Doors , Love , and Buffalo Springfield . San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane . New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground ,” Cooper lists.
“But Detroit was the epicenter of angry hard rock,” he clarifies. “Detroit seemed like paradise for misfits. When they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home.”
The first preview of the album will be a cover of one of the bands that defined New York, The Velvet Underground, with the track "Rock 'n' Roll," actually written in Detroit by Lou Reed . Cooper's rendition arrives this Friday, the 13th.
