After almost a decade, the band marks its return.
Canadian band Alexisonfire are officially back! The post-hardcore band recently released the single "Familiar Drugs" after almost a decade without new material, and now they've released the music video for the track.
In the video, the band appears playing in a room and, according to guitarist Wade MacNeil , the idea was to make a recording in the style of punk documentaries from the 70s and 80s. " Maxxis [the video director] flew to Toronto with a crew of four people," says the guitarist.
“He filmed us on VHS tape and cell phones in just one day. We were all drawn to the vibe of old documentaries and punk videos from the 70s and 80s. We asked for a lo-fi performance video, no nonsense, and that’s exactly what he did.”
Speaking about the song with Consequence of Sound, guitarist and vocalist Dallas Green said that the riff and chorus had always been with him, "It was something we never got around to trying to see if we could turn it into a band song."
It is not yet known if "Familiar Drugs" will be part of a studio album to follow up Old Crows/Young Cardinals . More information should be released soon. Watch the video below.
