Alexi Laiho , known as the vocalist of Children of Bodom , left tracks for Bodom's first EP, After Midnight, recorded before his untimely death at the age of 41 in December 2020.
In previously unreleased footage, Laiho is shown recording the vocal tracks for the project in the studio in November. The 30-second clip was published by Ykä Järvinen , director of the music video for "Paint the Sky With Blood ," the vocalist's latest video.
The director followed and recorded the project's sessions, but the artist's death changed plans to release a mini-documentary about the band's creative process. “I have quite a bit of material from these Bodom After Midnight sessions that was never released because the maestro [Laiho] left this realm too soon. I really don't know if more videos will be released, but here's a short clip I edited over a year ago as a demonstration for the guys,” wrote Järvinen.
According to guitarist Daniel Freyberg , the band had plans to continue recording , but there wasn't enough time. "These three tracks are the only ones we rehearsed, let alone recorded. There's nothing left. But I'm very happy, it really shows Alexi at his best," he said.
