Last weekend, on January 1st, David Lee Roth briefly announced in an interview that he will be retiring after his final five shows in Las Vegas scheduled for January. As a nod to the old days, the artist revealed that Alex Van Halen will be joining him for the last performances of his career.

Lee Roth said he was "hanging up his boots," but preferred not to detail the reason for his decision, saying only that the reason for it is "in a safe." "I'm retiring. This is the first and only official announcement… You received the news, now share it with the world. I'm not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows," he said.

During his statement, Lee Roth also said he was reflecting on the life and death of his former bandmate Eddie Van Halen and somberly declared: “I am encouraged and compelled to come to terms with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter.”

David Lee Roth's final performances begin on New Year's Eve and continue for four more days in January.
