Alex Skolnick: "I didn't expect to still be playing at this age"

Check the statement.

In an interview with Metal Shock Finland, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick spoke about the longevity of his heavy metal career, saying he didn't expect to still be playing at this age. The musician commented on his future in the scene:

“I’ll just say that I didn’t expect to be here this long. When I came back to the band in 2005, honestly, I didn’t even know if we were going to make an album (…) And now I’ve been here longer than the first time. And you know, everything is going very well.”.

"Here's the problem: I'm not sure if I want to be an old man in Metal. I'm still in a decade where… I'm not in my fifties. I'm in my forties. Which is much older than I thought I'd be, because it's such a young style of music. So, I don't like to say 'never,' but I feel like I don't want to be one of those guys who keep going forever, playing between doses of anti-aging medication. But, who knows? For now, everything works out.".
