After a lifetime on stage, Rush 's Alex Lifeson is tired of playing live shows. In an interview with Guitar Player , the guitarist was asked if he had plans for live performances anytime soon, and the answer was no ( transcription via Blabbermouth ).

“I’m not thinking about that. It’s challenging enough trying to finish this album first,” he says. Lifeson is referring to the project he’s working on with Andy Curran , former bassist and vocalist of Coney Hatch , for which enough material has already been accumulated to complete an album.

“To be honest, I don’t think I can go on tour,” he declares. “If it were a limited number of shows it might even be fun, but anything beyond the fingers of one hand… After 40 years sitting in hotel rooms, I’m not interested. I’m tired of it. I love my home life.”

“I thought I would miss being on stage much more, but I don’t really. I’ve done a few things here and there. Small things – usually a charity event or something like that. It’s kind of fun playing with other people, but the whole production – the big, gigantic machine – doesn’t really appeal to me right now.”

Earlier this year, Alex Lifeson also discouraged Rush fans by being honest and saying that “there’s no possibility” of a band reunion . “I think, really, Rush ended in 2015. There’s no possibility of Rush coming back because Neil isn’t here to be a part of it,” he said during an appearance on Eddie Trunk . “If something comes up in the future, an opportunity for us to do something, we’ll decide what it will be over coffee.”
