Ian Gillan Tony Iommi 's plans 's album Born Again .

Released in August 1983, the chaotic Born Again was Black Sabbath's only album with Ian Gillan on vocals and the last with drummer  Bill Ward .

Ian never hid his dissatisfaction with the album's mixing. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Brazil Deep Purple vocalist emphasized: “I think the songs are great. I just thought it was ridiculous. The mixing was absurd. One day, the engineer disappeared from the studio. And someone else took over.”

“[…]But I think it was remixed and you could only hear the bass. If you’ve seen the movie This is Spinal Tap (1984), that’s the story of Born Again . The record company lady or the press officer told the manager: ‘It can’t be played.’ And that’s exactly what happened. The bass level was so high that it couldn’t be played on the radio. It was right after the emergence of digital music. So, people were still using needles. And it was impossible.”

Regarding guitarist Tony Iommi's plans to remix and reissue the album Born Again, Ian said: “If they're going to remix it, it's a bit late. But yeah, probably for aficionados, collectors or something like that… I don't know. But there are some songs on there that I really think are great. It's always a joy to compose with Tony and we certainly had a lot of fun making the record. […] So it was a kind of hybrid and strange situation. But overall, thank God they're going to remix it.”

Black Sabbath's farewell with the original lineup.

Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi , bassist Geezer Butler , and drummer Bill Ward will take the stage together for the last time at a benefit festival.

The performance, titled Back to the Beginning, will take place on July 5th at Villa Park , a stadium in Birmingham, the city in England where the group was formed in the late 1960s.

All profits from the event will be donated to Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital , and Acorn Children's Hospice .
