The Tagus is more beautiful than the river that runs through my village, but the Tagus is not more beautiful than the river that runs through my village because the Tagus is not the river that runs through my village.

Heavy Metal.
How great it is to have another means of communication like Wikimetal, dedicated to this style that we love so much. A style that is not just musical, but a way of life. Headbangers, in addition to listening to this unique and impressive sound, also live it. How good it is to leave work, arrive home and be able to listen to some good heavy music, read some material related to the genre and wear yet another of the many t-shirts of our favorite bands.
Talking about favorite bands is always very difficult and should be done with caution. We headbangers are also characterized by our complete loyalty to the bands we like the most. Make a derogatory comment and you may suffer the wrath of those who are, much more than fans, true fanatic supporters.
However, what you generally see in Heavy Metal is a healthy fanaticism. You'll rarely see an apathetic audience at any show by any good metal band. The interaction with the band is unique. The audience usually knows all the lyrics and listens attentively to every detail of the songs, just to check if the live performance will be as good as the recordings. And, my friend, let me tell you, the crowd goes crazy when the performance is flawless.
Among many other things, it's characteristics like those mentioned above that make us get more and more involved with the Heavy Metal scene. And when I say scene, I'm referring to everything: bands, fans/supporters, attitudes, etc. The scene only exists because of absolutely all of this together.
The Heavy Metal scene is, above all, strong. It bravely survives even without the support of mainstream media. We can't even count on the media to promote shows (even though they are always sold out). If we want to follow the bands we like, it has to be done "by the skin of our teeth," we have to depend on ourselves. With the advent of the internet, things have become a little easier in terms of promotion, but it's still far from ideal.
So how can we improve this situation a little? Many say it's difficult, but I only partially agree. The solution is simple: we need to make the scene stronger. But putting it into practice is a bit more complicated: how do we do that?
Personally, I believe the scene is strengthened if we can provide it with more and more "fuel." And the fuel for the Heavy Metal scene is undoubtedly the music. Musically speaking, we're doing very well. It's rare to find a headbanger who doesn't know how to play something on an instrument, and there are countless excellent musicians in our community.
That's why I think we should increasingly encourage the emergence of new bands. It's essential to have bands to look up to, just as our idols have their favorites. But if you want to see your band have a chance to grow and strengthen the scene, you should always place it on the same level as those you like.
What I'm trying to say is: believe in your band and be proud of the music it makes. In the metal scene, the most sincere of all (if other styles can even be called a scene…), only those who play for pleasure and truly believe in their quality remain in the spotlight. In the worst-case scenario (and that's what will probably happen), if your band doesn't become world-famous, you'll forever cherish the great moments of rehearsals and the company of the other band members, who are just as crazy as you.
Forget what the venue owners think. Try inviting your friends over to listen to your music and enjoy the Heavy Metal your band plays. Take inspiration from the quote above by Alberto Caeiro, a pseudonym of Fernando Pessoa.
Your band will probably never be the same as Iron Maiden or Metallica, but make sure that, at least for you, it's definitely the best band in the world.
And after all that, do you still have any doubt about which band is the band of my life?
Hugs to all!
