Chester Bennington 's death shook a legion of fans and musicians who held the singer in high esteem. Chester had been battling depression for a long time, and the cause of his death was suicide, which made the loss even more painful.

In honor of their friend and one of the most memorable voices in music, Linkin Park held a memorial concert for Chester and invited numerous artists to the stage. One of them was Alanis Morissette , who performed a previously unreleased song called "Rest," dedicated to addressing mental health. The song had never been officially released until now.

Almost four years after it was first released, “Rest” was made available on all digital platforms this Thursday, May 20th, on National Mental Health Action Day. In a press release, Alanis wrote: “Today is #MentalHealthActionDay… I’m sharing a song called 'Rest' that was written specifically about those of us who struggle with depression and anxiety, isolation, suicidal thoughts, and the profound despair that mental illness can bring.”

The singer also appealed to those suffering to visit the American website Mental Health Is Health , and suggested donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness . Listen to “Rest” on the YouTube player or on your preferred digital platform by clicking here.
