In a conversation with Nando Machado on The Wikimetal Happy Hour , Ahmet Zappa spoke about having the iconic Frank Zappa as a father figure: "He taught me a lot."

“Growing up with Frank as my father, he had so much to teach me and he was a great inspiration in my life and still is. It’s a great honor and a privilege. And I had the opportunity to work on incredible projects with him.”

He went on to say that losing a family member is always very painful. “I’m constantly reminded that my mother and father are no longer here. My father passed away a long time ago, but working with his music and on the documentary and watching all of this warms my heart, you know? But it’s a consolation prize, because I really wish they were here with me.”
