Agreement on the name Queensrÿche is announced

A friendly agreement determines that the name will remain with the former members

Queensrÿche announced on Sunday night (27) the final agreement in the battle over the band's name, between Geoff Tate and his former colleagues. The resolution determines that the original musicians Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson and Scott Rockenfield, and new members Todd LaTorre and Parker Lundgren have the exclusive right to the name “Queensrÿche”.

Geoff Tate's band, still unnamed, will have exclusive rights to perform and record the songs from "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II." The vocalist will also embark on a farewell tour under the name "Queensrÿche."

The vocalist commented in an interview with The Seattle Times that he is happy with the agreement and relieved that the dispute never went to court: “What’s very important to me is that people understand that the case never went to court. They bought the name from me. But I retain the rights to 'Operation Mindcrime'. 'Mindcrime' was mine, my story, so it’s important that I keep it. So they continue as Queensrÿche and I continue as me.”
