Aftershock opens the 2022 edition with plenty of sunshine, Slipknot, Evanescence and more

The first day of the 2022 edition of the Aftershock , in the Californian city of Sacramento, took place last Thursday, the 6th. A great start, with Slipknot as the headliner of the day, in what is the 10th edition of the festival.

The Aftershock takes place in Discovery Park, a green area along the American River, which guarantees a nice amount of trees and shade, essential for people to shelter a bit from the harsh California sun.

And it was truly inclement on that first day. The Brazilians from Ego Kill Talent , as well as the warriors who were there to see them, suffered from the heat during one of the first shows of the day, but nobody gave up. EKT is experiencing a great moment in these first shows in the United States, with Emmily Barreto as vocalist and new compositions being born alongside her on the road.

The first day also featured Stone Temple Pilots , with vocalist Jeff Gutt going into the crowd in a really nice scene, despite people throwing plastic balls for him to cut between high notes. I confess that my teenage self from the 1990s kept wanting to see the late original vocalist there, Scott Weiland , but it was still cool.

Bad Religion was memorable, as usual. The mosh pit was wide open and there weren't that many people participating, so we witnessed some hilarious episodes, like the guy who was trying to return a shoe to another guy (who was obviously the owner of the lost shoe, since he only had one shoe that looked exactly like it), but somehow couldn't return it. The owner didn't seem to recognize the property.

Rob Zombie also delivered an amazing show, his last show of the year, Amy Lee Evanescence show , and the night ended with Slipknot getting the crowd in both the general admission and VIP areas jumping like crazy.
