Following reunion announcement, Oasis sees huge increase in Spotify streams.

With the anticipation of the reunion, fans revisited the band's classics.

On the morning of Tuesday the 27th, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announced the return of Oasis with the OASIS LIVE 25 , which will include 14 shows across the UK and Ireland next year. The news came as a surprise to fans, as the brothers' relationship is quite turbulent and full of public conflicts.

The announcement featured a photo of the band with the following caption: “The guns have fallen silent. / The stars have aligned. / The great wait is over. / Come see. / It will not be televised.”

Besides the unexpected return, another situation caught attention even before the official announcement. After the teaser posted on the group's Instagram last Sunday, the 25th, with the date and time of a mysterious announcement, the group registered a "gigantic increase" in plays on Spotify, according to the platform itself.

Rumors about Noel and Liam's reconciliation have led many fans to revisit the band's catalog and, consequently, inflate the number of plays in recent days. According to information from the American magazine Variety , between 9 am and 11 am on Monday the 26th, Spotify registered a 160% increase in global Oasis streams compared to the previous week.

"The long wait is over"

Formed in the early 1990s in Manchester, United Kingdom, Oasis was one of the biggest names in the Britpop movement of that decade. With memorable hits like "Don't Look Back In Anger" and the anthem "Wonderwall," the band lasted until Noel Gallagher's definitive departure in 2009 after years of conflict with his brother, Liam.

"People can say what they want, but I simply can't work with Liam for another day," Noel wrote on his website after the decision at the time.

Due to constant fights and friction, the relationship between the brothers was considered by some fans to be impossible to reconcile. For years, they exchanged barbs and jabs on social media, during interviews, and even at concerts. However, some time ago, the Gallaghers toned down their feuds and even made friendly statements about each other.

In June of this year, during the 30th anniversary tour of Oasis' debut album, Definitely Maybe , Liam stated that he would reserve a seat for Noel at his shows because, according to him, "you never know," referring to the band's return.

Last week, in an interview with journalist John Robb as part of the album's celebrations, Noel stated that he didn't sing some of the album's tracks as well as his brother.

The barbs have finally ceased and Oasis is officially back.
