Joe Perry explained to radio station 97.1 FM The Drive why Joey Kramer Aerosmith 's final shows . The farewell tour, Peace Out, takes place between September and January in North America.
“Joey’s heart is in the right place, but playing drums is an athletic activity. There comes a point in life when the joints start to give way. So, at this moment, we don’t believe he will participate. But we’ll see,” said the guitarist (transcription via Blabbermouth ).
Previously, the band released a statement regarding the drummer's absence: “Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, but unfortunately, he has made the decision not to participate in the scheduled tour dates to focus his attention on his family and health. Joey's unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drums will be greatly missed.”.
In 2020, Kramer sued the group and was temporarily out of the lineup . Then, in 2022, Aerosmith announced the musician's "temporary leave ," as he decided not to participate in the Las Vegas residency to be with his family. Months later, he lost his wife , Linda Kramer , at the age of 55.
Joey is currently being replaced by drum technician John Douglas .
