Aerosmith canceled all shows of their Las Vegas residency in June and July after Steven Tyler relapsed into drug use and opted to begin treatment at a rehabilitation clinic.
The band announced the decision last Tuesday, the 24th. “As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. Following foot surgery to prepare for the stage, with the need to manage pain during the process, he recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to focus on his health and recovery,” they stated in a press release.
All fans with tickets for the canceled shows will receive a full refund. According to the statement, Aerosmith plans to return to the stage in September of this year with two shows in the United States and Las Vegas residency dates scheduled through December of this year.
In March of this year, the band announced a "temporary leave of absence" for drummer Joey Kramer , who decided not to tour in order to stay with his family and would be replaced by drum technician John Douglas .
