In 2021, Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen teamed up for a major collaboration and released the acclaimed EP Better Days . The two are now preparing to tour the United States and, according to the duo, Smith/Kotzen can expect new music in the near future.
According to Kotzen, the songwriting process for the new tracks happened organically, without much planning. "It was all about timing," he says. "Adrian and [his wife] came to town and Adrian said he'd be here for a few months and asked, 'Do you want to write some songs?' So we got together and came up with seven ideas that are being worked on; we have some demos that are being worked on.".
Smith added that the initial idea was to work on a new album, but the two musicians' schedules somewhat hampered this process. According to the musician, however, the new project continues from where the Better Days left off and will be written as it becomes possible. "I don't want to change the world, I just want to rock," says Smith. "I just want to make good rock music."
