Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden reveals his favorite song from The Future Pass Tour in a joint post with the band on Instagram.
Iron Maiden's veteran guitarist has chosen "The Writing On The Wall" from the album Senjutsu (2021) as his favorite performance during the band's most recent tour ( via Blabbermouth ):
“ The Future Pass Tour has been one of my favorite tours because I have more space to express my guitar playing style, I have many solos and several songs of my own composition in the setlist. 'The Writing on the Wall' is my favorite, I like it.”
Smith comments on what it feels like to perform "The Writing on the Wall" live.
“When I play that simple opening chord on the guitar, the venue falls silent and the audience waits for what comes next. I love that and I love that pause. It’s always a good song to perform live. It gives me an opportunity to play it in a different way because it’s not so frantic rhythmically, and there’s space to put emotion into it. That’s why I enjoy this song.”
"The Writing on the Wall" was composed by Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith and released as the first single from the band's latest studio album. The record was produced by Kevin Shirley and co-produced by Steve Harris , leader of Iron Maiden, and was chosen as the fifth best Rock and Heavy Metal album of 2021 by Loudwire .
The Future Pass Tour has a setlist composed of songs from the group's most recent work, Senjutsu , tracks from the futuristic Somewhere in Time (1986) , and classic songs from the British band.
Iron Maiden returns to Brazil to conclude The Future Pass Tour with two sold-out shows in São Paulo at Allianz Parque on December 6th and 7th.
