Adam Schlesinger , of Fountains of Wayne , passed away yesterday, April 1st, at the age of 52, due to the coronavirus. The information was confirmed by Josh Grier, the musician's lawyer, to Rolling Stone . The news comes just days after Grier reported on Schlesinger's hospitalization due to COVID-19.

Fountains of Wayne has garnered two Grammy nominations, for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, with their biggest hit, "Stacy's Mom".

Furthermore, Adam was very active in film and television soundtracks, and his death was even remembered by Tom Hanks, who directed and starred in the film That Thing You Do (1997), alongside Steve Tyler , Liv Tyler, for which Schlesinger composed the title track, "That Thing You Do".

His work on film scores was so remarkable that Adam was nominated several times and won an Emmy Award once, the equivalent of an Oscar for television productions, for his work on the series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend . The composer also co-wrote songs for the film Cry Baby (1990), directed by John Waters and starring Johnny Depp, and the Broadway production, An Act of God (2015).
