According to TMZ , the death of Ace Frehley , former guitarist and founding member of KISS , is being investigated and the cause of death should be determined in the coming weeks.
According to the website, the musician was hospitalized and breathing with the aid of a mechanical ventilator. As the musician's health did not improve, the family decided to turn off the machines last Thursday, the 16th.
Now, a representative from the Morris County coroner's office informed TMZ that Frehley's autopsy has not yet been performed. "The musician is undergoing toxicology tests and an external physical examination," said the representative, who also stated that "the cause of death will be determined in the coming weeks, after the toxicology report is completed."
The family had confirmed the death through an official statement to the Variety on Thursday night, the 16th. Subsequently, a statement on the musician's social media , posted on Friday the 17th, reported that Ace died after a fall in his home studio.
Ace Frehley had previously announced 2025 tour dates due to unspecified “medical issues” following a recent hospitalization. The musician's announcement came two weeks after he cancelled a performance at the Antelope Valley Fair in California after suffering minor injuries from a fall at home. Ace was also working on his new album, Origins Vol. 4 .
