Kiss 's last show , the band revealed they would continue in avatar form . The performance took place in early December, and the band's former guitarist, Ace Frehley , commented on the news.

In an interview with Rock Antene , he commented ( via Blabbermouth ): “I’m glad it’s over, because I won’t be compared to them anymore… But I don’t understand this avatar thing they’re going to do.”

“I mean, I saw a bit of that in a YouTube video last night. It looked like it was aimed at kids. And it’s not rock n’ roll. I go on stage without backing tracks, plug my amp into it, plug my guitar into a Marshall, and that’s it. That’s it. It’s always been like that and it always will be,” he concluded.

Ace Frehley also spoke about Tommy Thayer , the current guitarist for Kiss: “I watched [a YouTube video of the show in] Indianapolis [from the End Of The Road ] and I’m not impressed. But that’s me. Tommy Thayer isn’t a bad guitarist. He’s just more mechanical than I am. Nobody can copy my solos the way I play them, because I’m sloppy and nobody can move like me. Nobody.”
