Angus and Brian comment on the guitarist's departure
In an interview with an Australian news website, Angus Young and Brian Johnson spoke about Malcolm Young's departure from AC/DC and the possibility of the band breaking up after the drummer's diagnosis.
“We went through the same thing with Bon Scott. It’s a difficult decision. Do you continue or do you stop? And it’s the same thing now. But Malcolm has a drive that’s part of him. He always wanted to finish what he started. And that’s the way I decided to do things ,” said Angus.
Johnson explained that the decision was entirely Angus's: “Angus is one of those two guys who together created unparalleled riffs. I really thought it was possible the band would break up. If Angus had told me it couldn't continue, I would have understood perfectly. But thankfully he said, 'Stevie is here. We can do this.' And we did.”
The musicians did not comment on Phil Rudd's status in the band, as he is still facing drug possession charges in a New Zealand court.
