Former bassist tells the story
In a new book about the history of AC/DC , "The Youngs: The Brothers Who Built AC/DC," former bassist Mark Evans revealed that the band considered firing vocalist Bon Scott.
According to Evans, brothers Malcolm and Angus Young considered removing the vocalist from the band due to Scott's heroin abuse. The bassist explains that the Youngs had a zero-tolerance policy regarding hard drugs.
“There was mention of a new singer, but it never got to this point. There wasn’t much discussion at the time, it was just: ‘There might be a big change’,” says Evans.
The book's author comments on Evans' statement: "It's important because it shows Bon Scott was seen as expendable, as was any band member who wasn't one of the Young brothers .
