Peter Baltes announced his departure in a statement

Accept 's founding bassist , Peter Baltes , has announced his departure from the band in a statement. “To all Accept fans: I would like to announce here my farewell as bassist for Accept. I have been with the band since the beginning. Many of you have been too. I would like to thank you all for these great years we have shared together. Keep the metal going.”

Wolf Hoffman , guitarist and founder of Accept, commented on the incident:

We spent four decades together. We went through highs and lows, and I remember incredible moments on stage. There was a blind understanding between us, personally and musically. That's very rare in the business!

Looking back, I will always cherish the beginning, when we had no worries. The countless hours we spent writing songs, playing, and exploring cities together. Just having good times.

Especially in these last ten years. After the Accept revival was so much fun and success, I thought we'd go on forever. And sail off into the proverbial sunset together. Maybe until one of us dropped dead on stage. But I guess I was wrong. It wasn't meant to be that way.

Seeing Peter leave Accept now saddens me immensely. But there's nothing I can do except wish him the best. Hope that this is the right decision for him and that he finds what he's looking for…

I will certainly miss my brother in music! One thing is for sure, however: Accept will continue full steam ahead!”

The group added in a separate statement: “We are all heartbroken! Peter needed a change in his life and we wish him all the best. He will always be part of the Accept family. To honor his contribution to music history, we wish him the best… In fact, ACCEPT WILL CONTINUE TO BE METAL!”
