In an interview with Triple M , Nic Cester , from the Australian band Jet , stated that he auditioned for the position ( via Consequence ): “I was with my in-laws and I got up in the morning and read the newspaper and it said that Brian Johnson was no longer in the band.”

“I remember saying to my father-in-law, ‘Holy shit, you wouldn’t want to put yourself in that position,’ and literally 20 minutes later my phone rang and they said, ‘Would you be interested in going to Atlanta, Georgia to audition and potentially fill in for the next round of dates we have?’”

He explains that he didn't think he would actually get the job and that he was going for the experience.

Speaking about the audition itself, the vocalist recounted that it was intense: “[ Angus Young ] put me to the test. Everything was a test to see how I would handle it — the volume and him saying, 'OK, let's do this song,' and I didn't know [some of them] right away, so he'd say, 'Go over there and learn' and the whole band would be waiting there for ten minutes and I'd just say, 'Oh, shit.'”
