The new tour of the legendary Australian group AC/DC began last Friday, the 17th, with a setlist full of classics. The band hasn't toured since 2016, when they were on stage with the Rock or Bust Tour. The shows are scheduled for several European countries and feature the American group The Pretty Reckless as the supporting act.
On May 9th, the band's official Instagram profile posted a photo showing the group rehearsing for the Power Up Tour . The image shows a new lineup consisting of Brian Johnson on vocals, Angus Young on guitar with his nephew Stevie Young , Matt Laugh on drums, and Chris Chaney (formerly of Jane's Addiction ) on bass.
The group returns after 8 years and also after Brian Johnson stepped away from vocals due to the risk of total deafness . The singer was replaced on the 2016 tour by Axl Rose ( Guns N' Roses ). “It was a very serious thing. I couldn't hear the tone of the guitars. It was horrible deafness. And I was starting to feel really bad about what I was presenting in front of the guys and in front of the audiences” (via Loud! ).
The tour is named after their most recent album, Power Up , released in November 2020, which is the band's tenth studio album. The setlist for the shows includes new works, such as "Demon Fire," but is also packed with classics that fans love, such as "Thunderstruck" and "You Shook Me All Night Long" (via UCR ).
The dates extend throughout the European summer, passing through countries such as Germany, Italy, France, and England. The final show of the tour takes place on August 17th at Croke Park stadium in Dublin, the capital of Ireland.
