For some time now, rumors about an AC/DC tour have been gaining traction, including four shows in Brazil.
According to podcaster Dean Delray , the tour will not only take place, but will also have a replacement for bassist Cliff Williams.
Delray wrote the following message in an Instagram post: “Okay, last night I heard from a very reliable source that AC/DC will be touring with a new bassist this year. I’ll let AC/DC make that announcement, but I will say, three years ago I had Cliff Williams on my podcast and he said he wasn’t going to tour again and I was surprised that the fans didn’t realize that.”
“I just want to take this moment to thank Cliff for killing it on bass for over 40 years,” he continued. “An absolute groove killer. I love you, brother.”
Williams retired at the end of Rock or Bust to "be free to do what he wants." Midway through the tour, Axl Rose took over vocals after Brian Johnson needed to be addressed. But Angus Young managed to lure back AC/DC's key musicians, including Williams, for his 2020 Power Up
The band was unable to perform promotional shows around the time of the album's release due to the pandemic, but finally returned to the stage last fall for the Power Trip festival in Indio, California. Williams appeared with the band for a one-off performance at the festival.
