AC/DC: Former bassist Paul Matters dies

After being fired from the band, Matters gave up music and even sold his bass guitar

Paul Matters , former bassist for AC/DC , has died. The information was confirmed by his friend Rod Wescombe and by Jesse Fink , author of the band's biography , Bon: The Last Highway .

The musician was in the band in 1975 after the recording of High Voltage , AC/DC's first album, but was fired by Bon Scott a few weeks later and replaced by Mark Evans .

According to drummer Les Gully , Matters' former bandmate before joining AC/DC, on Armageddon , the artist was fired for not fitting musically or with the Young brothers' principles, for only playing what he liked, having strong opinions, and being "too good-looking."

Matters made rare appearances throughout the rest of his life, and only spoke to Fink about the matter for the band's biography, in which he revealed that the band's management at the time didn't give the musicians any money to even eat. After being fired from AC/DC, Paul gave up music and even sold his bass.

Rest in peace, Paul.
