The car is in orbit playing "Space Oddity" on an infinite loop.

SpaceX, an American aerospace company founded by Elon Musk, launched a powerful Falcon Heavy rocket to Mars on Tuesday, October 6th.

The launch took place at NASA's base at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and carried with it an unusual object: a red Tesla Roadster, also the work of Elon Musk.

Musk aims to make space travel cheaper so that one day people can live on the red planet.

The surprises don't stop there: the car features a mannequin dressed in official SpaceX company clothing and will play David Bowie's "Space Oddity" as its soundtrack. A robot named Starman, also in homage to the musician, has been placed in the driver's seat.

The rocket launch was streamed on YouTube, and you can watch the video below.
