Curated by Fábio Massari , one of the most celebrated names in Brazilian music journalism, immortalized by his years as a VJ on MTV, the Massari Fest returns in September 2025 to celebrate the 61st birthday of "The Reverend," as the music critic is also respectfully known.

The event, scheduled for September 14th at Fabrique Club (São Paulo), will feature the American band A Place to Bury Strangers , in addition to the Brazilian bands Bufo Borealis and Retrato & Oruã . It is produced by Maraty. Tickets are on sale through the FasTix website .

About the bands at the festival

A Place To Bury Strangers has been active since 2002 and has been dubbed "the loudest band in New York." The group's sound is an intense mix of noise rock, shoegaze, post-punk, and space rock.

According to Fábio Massari, A Place To Bury Strangers managed to transcend their main influences, imprinting a distinctive signature on their noise rock. “It’s garage, it’s psychedelic, it’s post-punk, and it’s shoegaze. In tune with the headliners of last year’s Massari Fest Acid Mothers Temple ), they tend to work in a mode of total sensory destruction. And for me, it will truly be a gift, since I’ve always been close but never managed to see them live,” he adds about the New York band that has been eagerly awaited in Brazil for years.

Bufo Borealis , created by bassist Juninho Sangiorgio ( Ratos de Porão ) and drummer Rodrigo Saldanha ( Amigos Invisíveis ), is another of the bands at Massari Fest , which the journalist reveals he has been following "enthusiastically since the beginning of their activities." They are a band from São Paulo that moves between jazz, experimental funk, and traditional black music, with a touch of punk attitude.

Retrato is a Brazilian psychedelic rock band that also explores other musical styles from the 60s and 70s, mainly within the national scene, without losing its contemporary relevance.
