The band A Perfect Circle released a strange music video for the track "The Contrarian" from their latest album, Eat the Elephant , their first in 14 years. The video features 2D imagery by Steven Sebring and is part of a film accompanying the deluxe edition of the album.
In the new and complete version of Eat the Elephant , fans receive a prism that transforms the videos into a hologram created by Sebring. "It's a combination of tangible and visual sensation," vocalist Maynard James Keenan Billboard about the hologram project.
“I come from a time when physical things meant something (…) The interaction with vinyl records and other things that have been lost with the digital age… Something like that provides an exciting and different experience for people.”
