A documentary about the history of Judas Priest is in production by Sony Music Vision and Epic Records.

The Ballad of Judas Priest promises to recount in detail events ranging from their beginnings to their rise to the top of heavy metal.

The film [via Blabbermouth ] is co-directed by veteran documentary filmmaker Sam Dunn and Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine , marking the guitarist's directorial debut.

In the biopic, fans of the group can expect a celebration of the legacy and impact that Priest has on the style, and on music in general.

“While some may know Judas Priest for their hugely successful hits that shaped heavy metal, there’s much more to their story. By tracing this incredible 50-year journey, the film will show how they not only defined the sound and image of metal, but also helped make it a more inclusive space. We thank the band for allowing such intimate and unfiltered access to their lives and look forward to bringing this film to the metal masses around the world,” comment the directors.

Judas Priest has spoken out about the documentary.

“We have lived and breathed metal for over five decades and, finally, in this documentary, we call upon our congregation to officially witness our lives uncensored, in a way never before seen. The cassock will be removed, revealing the Priest in all his glory.”

As of now, there is no release date for the Judas Priest , which is being produced by Banger Films .
