“.5: The Gray Chapter” goes gold in the US

Album released in 2014

Slipknot's latest album, ".5: The Gray Chapter," received a gold record certification at the end of August for selling over 500,000 copies. The institution that awards gold records, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), now considers both streaming and digital sales when certifying a work.

The album sold 132,000 copies in its first week of release in October 2014. The album was also nominated for a Grammy that year for Best Rock Album, but lost to Muse's "Drones".
