Cradle of Filth is a British extreme metal band formed in 1991 in Suffolk, England, by Dani Filth (founder and lead vocalist) and its initial members, including original guitarists Paul Allender and Robin Eaglestone . Initially rooted in traditional black metal, the band quickly evolved into a unique style of symphonic black metal, incorporating gothic, orchestral, and even operatic elements, which made them icons of the genre. With lyrics inspired by themes such as vampirism, horror, and mythology, they gained worldwide recognition through classic albums such as The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994) and Cruelty and the Beast (1998), which explore dark and theatrical narratives.
Throughout their more than 30-year career, Cradle of Filth has faced numerous lineup changes, with Dani Filth being the only constant member, maintaining the band's innovative and provocative essence. This turnover has helped shape their sound, but the current lineup, solidified in recent years, offers a perfect blend of experience and fresh energy: Dani Filth (vocals); Marek 'Marthus' Šmerda (guitar); Donny Burbage (guitar); Daniel Firth (bass); and Zoe Marie Federoff (vocals/keyboards) and Martin “Marthus” Škaroupka (drums). This current lineup guarantees intense and immersive live performances, mixing aggression with musical sophistication, and continues to sell out shows around the world, influencing generations of extreme metal fans.
