The year 2024 was marked by numerous releases, unexpected comebacks, and albums that achieved great success and impacted the music industry.

We heard a lot of new music this past year, and as usual Wikimetal team has compiled a list of the 30 best albums of 2024.

30. Kissin' Dynamite Back With A Bang

The German hard rock band Kissin' Dynamite released their eighth studio album, Back With A Bang, in July. The record captures all the essence of the 80s style that we'll be able to see live at Bangers Open Air 2025.

29. Blues Pills – Birthday

Swedish band Blues Pills released their fourth studio album in 2024. This work represents a shift in the group's sound, which previously had a stronger connection to progressive, psychedelic rock .

28. Saxon – Hell, Fire And Damnation

Hell, Fire And Damnation Biff Byford 's father used to say. The twenty-fourth studio album represents a great work from one of the leading bands of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

27. Wizard of Oz – Alicia in the Metalverso

The Spanish band Mägo de Oz Alicia en el Metalverso in early 2024. The group features a folk metal sound and, in this record, they embarked on precise songs with good guitar riffs.

26. Linkin Park – Papercuts

Linkin Park 's first appearance on this list is on Papercuts , a compilation of singles. The album features Chester Bennington on "Friendly Fire." In addition, the track "QWERTY" was made available for the first time on digital streaming platforms.

25. TEARS OF TRAGEDY – Wonder Arts

Formed in the 2000s, TEARS OF TRAGEDY is a band based in Tokyo that blends symphonic and melodic power metal.

24. Come Ahead – Primal Scream

After an eight-year wait, Primal Scream returned in full force with Come Ahead , delivering great tracks that revisit the alternative rock of their early career.

23. Papangu Lampião King

Papangu , from João Pessoa, released Lampião Rei . The band has gained considerable attention in the music scene, especially after their performance at Knotfest Brasil 2024 .

22. Ensiferum Winter Storm

Confirmed act for Bangers Open Air 2025, Ensiferum will come to Brazil with their new album, Winter Storm , bringing all their folk metal essence.

21. Nightwish – Yesterwynde

Yesterwynde represents a milestone in Nightwish , being the band's tenth studio album. Featuring twelve tracks, keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen explained that the record took three years to complete.

20. Scarlet Rebels Where The Colors Meet

The Welsh band Scarlet Rebels releases their third studio album, Where The Colours Meet , with a sound that is already characteristic of melodic rock.

19. Rhapsody Of Fire Challenge The Wind

Rhapsody Of Fire 's fourteenth album is titled Challenge The Wind . The Italians deliver another fine power metal album, with classic elements of the genre.

18. Father John Misty – Mahashmashana

Josh Tillman , using the name Father John Tillman , released Mahashmashana , his sixth album under that stage name.

17. Lenny Kravitz – Blue Electric Light

Lenny Kravitz appears on the list with Blue Electric Light , where the artist was able to deliver a record full of memorable and addictive tracks that captivate the mind.

16. The Offspring – SUPERCHARGED

SUPERCHARGED follows Let The Bad Times Roll and was produced by Bob Rock . As described by founding vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Dexter Hollan , the songs "well summarize the current world, where everyone seems to be hyped up in real life and on social media."

15. Bad Omens CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST]

Before a historic performance worthy of being considered one of the best of the night at Knotfest Brasil 2024 , Bad Omens released the excellent CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST]. With great weight, the group once again showcased the multifaceted music that secured them a place on our list.

14. Myles Kennedy – The Art Of Letting Go

Famous for his vocals in Alter Bridge Slash 's band , Myles Kennedy has released his third solo album, The Art Of Letting Go .

In addition to Kennedy, Zia Uddin (drums), Tim Tournier (bass) and Michael “Elvis” Baskette (production) worked on the excellent recording.

13. Mr. Big – Ten

As the name suggests, Ten Mr. Big 's tenth studio album , and is a tribute to the late drummer Pat Torpey .

The album features Nick D'Virgilio on drums and tracks written by Eric Martin (vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), André Pessis , and Tony Fanucchi .

12. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Wild God

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have released their eighteenth studio album, Wild God . The album, which was produced by Cave and Warren Ellis , and mixed by David Fridmann , began being written by Cave on New Year's Day 2023.

11. Green Day – Saviors

One of the leading names in punk rock, Green Day released Saviors , the successor to Father of All Motherfuckers . The album blends the band's early sound with a maturity developed throughout their career. The band returns to Brazil in 2025 as a confirmed act at The Town.

10. Galneryus The Stars Will Light The Way

The Japanese power metal band Galneryus was formed in the early 2000s. Now, in 2024, they have released their new album, The Stars Will Light The Way .

09. Bring Me The Horizon – POST HUMAN: NeX GEn

Considered one of the most anticipated albums of the year, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn is a work well above average, in which Bring Me The Horizon exceeded all expectations.

Wikimetal was present at both first and second in Brazil.

08. Fontaines DC – Romance

Romance , by Fontaines DC , was responsible for expanding the band's horizons and showcasing them beyond the post-punk scene. With James Ford (Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys) producing, Wikimetal conducted an interview with guitarist Conor Curley .

07. Amyl and the Sniffers – Cartoon Darkness

Emerging from the Melobourne pub-rock scene, Amyl and The Sniffers have been active for almost ten years, and in 2024, they released Cartoon Darkness .

06. The Cure – Songs Of a Lost World

After a sixteen-year wait, The Cure finally released their newest studio album, Songs Of a Lost World, this year. The milestone was so important and emblematic that it led them to reach number one on the British charts after 32 years without doing so.

05. Judas Priest – Invincible Shield

The beginning of 2024 was completely dominated by Invincible Shield , the new album from Judas Priest , who arrived five years without releasing new material. The album remains one of the best of the year.

04. Lucifer V – Lucifer

Lucifer V marks an evolution for the band. Featuring top-notch tracks, Lucifer also impresses live, performing these iconic songs.

3. Black Panther – PERPETUAL

The leading name in the current Brazilian metal scene is Black Pantera , and PERPÉTUO brilliantly proves this.

The trio delivers a powerful work , with lyrics that offer important reflections and themes focused on Black ancestry and spirituality.

02. Bruce Dickinson – The Mandrake Project

After almost twenty years without releasing solo work, Bruce Dickinson released The Mandrake Project , which is now considered one of the best works by the Iron Maiden .

01. Linkin Park – From Zero

The top spot couldn't have been anywhere else. Linkin Park made an unexpected comeback in 2024, with a new lineup and a world tour.

From Zero is an excellent work, with precise and very well-crafted tracks, and was chosen as the best album of the year by the Wikimetal . Check out our review here.
