ROCK FOR PEOPLE 2024 – MEET THE HEADLINERS
YUNGBLUD
Born in Yorkshire, England, YUNGBLUD is a multi-instrumentalist who picked up a guitar at age 2 and began writing his own songs at age 10. The 26-year-old artist is known for expressing what he believes are the main issues of his generation, using his music as a tool to unite today's youth.
He has collaborated with artists such as Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons , Matty Healy of The 1975, Avril Lavigne , and Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon . The music video for YUNGBLUD's song "The Funeral" also features Ozzy Osbourne.
THE OFFSPRING
The Offspring was formed in Garden Grove, California, in 1984. After a few self-released albums, the band released SMASH , which included their first major hit, "Come Out and Play." With over 11 million copies sold, the album remains one of the best-selling independent albums of all time.
In April 2021, the Californian band The Offspring released their tenth studio album, Let the Bad Times Roll. The project was completed and released amidst a global pandemic, and while the album title seemed fitting at the time, it actually turned out to be anything but.
The Offspring's story has been the complete opposite since then – they've been having a great time. The band (vocalist Dexter Holland , guitarist Noodles , bassist Todd Morse, multi-instrumentalist Jonah Nimoy , and drummer Brandon Pertzborn ) has just finished its most critically acclaimed American tour, with Dexter Holland saying: "We played one of the biggest and best shows of our career."
THE PRODIGY
The Prodigy is one of the most successful electronic bands of all time, with an estimated 25 million records sold worldwide, including 4.7 million album copies in the UK. All seven of their studio albums have reached number one on the UK charts.
AllMusic described them as “the premier dance act for the alternative masses” and “the Godfathers of Rave.” The Prodigy have won numerous awards throughout their career, including two Brit Awards for Best British Dance Performance, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Kerrang! Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, and two Grammy nominations.
PENDULUM
One of the most famous electronic bands of all time, Pendulum, is back. After their hiatus, they released a new EP titled Elemental and went on to perform an impressive series of headlining shows at festivals.
In 2005, they released their acclaimed debut album Hold Your Colour , which included monstrous tracks like “Slam,” “Fasten Your Seatbelt,” “Tarantula,” and “Blood Sugar,” instantly becoming known for their unique combination of vibrant music with an unstoppable rhythm and energetic live shows. Led by Rob Swire and his bandmates Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding , the album was certified platinum, taking the band on a world tour.
The 2008 platinum-selling album In Silico , when Pendulum was one of the biggest stars in electronic music, included cult classics like “Granite” and “Propane Nightmares.” Pendulum has performed on main festival stages around the world, including Download, Sziget, Creamfields, Coachella, Rock Am Ring, Reading/Leeds, and T in the Park. The band's last performance at Rock for People was in 2011, so Pendulum is poised for a spectacular return to the Hradec Králové stage after 13 long years.
