Hello friends!
After much work compiling the 2013 European festival calendar, I simultaneously devised a very ambitious plan: to also try to create a calendar for festivals on other continents. I knew beforehand that it would be asking for trouble, but I didn't shy away from this challenge. Besides the fact that information is much scarcer, requiring that a participant, or preferably the author himself, have visited the festivals to provide the most accurate information possible, these events are not publicized and confirmed with the necessary advance notice compared to festivals in the Old Continent. This creates a tremendous headache in order to provide the best information to everyone. Furthermore, the Brazilian and Latin American websites of the events themselves often leave much to be desired in terms of providing the minimum necessary information to their potential clients. Therefore, I went looking for what I could find.
Unfortunately, some events have already occurred prior to this publication, but they will still be listed. This is due to the fact that I lacked information on the other events; some of them anticipated news that would provide updates from February until mid-March, and therefore I decided to hold it until it was at least satisfactory for immediate publication. In any case, it would have been necessary to redo it if I had published it earlier.
Finally, it's not as comprehensive as the previous calendar, but it serves as an appetizer for those who want to try a different taste from traditional European festivals. And I couldn't leave out the festivals held in Brazil, which deserve mention, even though half of them aren't strictly exclusive Metal festivals, but they do make room for Metal and therefore deserve proper promotion. Plus, it's easier and less expensive for most Wikimetal readers to get a taste of how cool it is to go to one of them. Certainly, the main ones are listed below.
I separated them by continent and country in alphabetical order, respectively, and then arranged them chronologically, just as I did previously with the EU festivals. I believe this will make it easier for everyone to understand. In the specific case of the USA, in addition to this sequence, I have another separation: first the typical land-based festivals and then the cruises.
Finally, as I mentioned earlier, due to the difficulty in obtaining confirmation of some events and dates, and to avoid leaving anyone in the lurch, I decided to publish them anyway. However, I recommend caution and thorough research before deciding to attend any of these events that are not yet officially confirmed. As updated and more accurate information becomes available, I will update it, just as I did with the European festival calendar.
