Peter Steele, lead singer of Type O Negative, died in 2010.
Type O Negative emerged in the late 1980s in the United States, bringing a slow, heavy sound that blends gothic and doom metal, with melancholic lyrics and the deep voice of vocalist and bassist Peter Steele as its main trademark.
It was with their third album, Bloody Kisses , that the band gained recognition, even placing music videos on the MTV charts, and establishing themselves with the classic songs "Black No. 1" and "Christian Woman".
The band also contributed to the soundtracks of films such as The Blair Witch Project with "Haunted," Bride of Chucky with "Love You To Death," and Mortal Kombat with "Blood & Fire."
Type O Negative's last album of original material was Dead Again , released in 2007.
Steele died on April 14, 2010, at the age of 48, from cardiac arrest. Following this, the band ceased operations.
Guitarist Kenny Hickey is currently the vocalist and guitarist for the bands Silvertomb and Seventh Void. Sal Abruscato, one of the founding members of Type O Negative, is currently the vocalist for A Pale Horse Named Death, along with drummer Johnny Kelly.
